Sandbox...or Pool?

On Ethan's bday, Dylan and I thought we'd invite the birthday boy and tata Jen over for breakfast and play time in the backyard. Tata Jen and I decided since I forgot to bring the sand for the sandbox that we would turn it into a pool for the day. Dylan was not too thrilled.

Dylan's 1st Bday!

Dylan had such a blast for his 1st bday! He started off celebrating his big day by doing some shopping at the grand opening of the Carter's store in Brea with his buddies, Everett and Ethan. Later, he celebrated with dinner at home along with his grandparents and auntie and Luis, topping it off with some yummy homemade banana cupcakes that mommy baked especially for him! The birthday boy also got to celebrate with a luau celebration and all his little buddies, family and special close friends. It was so much fun celebrating with him and watching his reactions. I know all mom's say this, but I seriously cannot believe how fast one year has gone by. It's crazy! It makes me a little sad because part of me wished it went by slower, but I know there are so many amazing times with Dylan ahead!

Family time in Spain!

This was such a special trip! It was so exciting and special to be able to take Dylan, and Geno, to Madrid for the 1st time to see where my family lives and is from. It was so wonderful to be able to have my whole family meet Dylan, most for the 1st time. I really wanted for him to meet and know his great grandparents. Dylan is the 1st great grandchild. I was a little nervous about the 12 hour flight with him, but overall, he was a great traveler! I loved having him with me, taking him our traditional lunches at my grandparents, taking him the the Retiro ("central park") where we went every summer to watch the boats, taking him to the school my brother and I went to, and just spending a lot of family time out eating, swimming, and walking the city. Every time I have gone to Madrid, the night before flying back home, I have always taken a moment alone to step out on my grandpa's balcony facing the Retiro and just have a moment of silence by myself and stare at the city and sky and think about when will be the next time I get to come back. This time was so very special because I took that same moment to step out on the balcony with Dylan this time. It's always so hard and emotional to leave my family there. Hopefully we will be able to all go back soon!

Echevarria cousins reunite on the town! (& husbands/boyfriends too!)

Disneyland!

We have a lot to catch up on...I have totally lagged on posting! Let's recap in order...before going on our Summer family trip, Dylan got to go to Disneyland for the 1st time! This was SO exciting for me because I have always been OBSESSED with Disneyland! My mood completely changes when I walk onto main street, I get so excited and happy! As for Dylan...by the look on his face he did not look to impressed lol! Geno and I kept laughing because he looked so stuck up and unimpressed the whole time! We need to take him back soon and pick a ride that will pleasantly surprise him. So far he has just been on Peter Pan and Small World. We also greeted him with a "1st time visit" button from Disney. He was happy when we got ice cream though!
